So what is compassionate engineering?

In the last post, we introduced the term “Compassionate Engineering.” So what does it really mean? We asked a few students at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to share their thoughts.

These students were selected to participate in a 10-week summer internship program called iSTEP – short for “innovative Student Technology ExPerience.” Started by TechBridgeWorld in 2009, iSTEP provides CMU students with the opportunity to conduct technology research projects in partnership with developing communities around the world. Before they embarked on the summer internship, we asked the students to define compassionate engineering and what it means to them.

How would you define compassionate engineering?
